5 tips to have a great LinkedIn profile

2019’s new way of recruiting

Whether you are job-hunting, networking in your field or simply sharing professional knowledge, having a smart-looking LinkedIn profile may be the missing piece that is keeping you away from gaining the visibility you would like to have from recruiters or people in general.

Today we are helping you with 5 tips you should follow in order to have a killer LinkedIn profile.

1. No selfies!

Looking professional does not go hand in hand with posting a selfie at a random party with friends. Would that be the photo you include in your CV? If you don’t have a professional headshot, add it to your to-do list immediately… and don’t forget to smile!

2. Remember the headline

By default, LinkedIn sets your headline with your job title and current company. This does not have to be the case. Consider listing your specialty and, if you want to make your profile visible and searchable, include important keywords recruiters would look for.

3. Include achievements, not responsibilities

As you would do in your CV, make sure you avoid listing mere responsibilities and take the opportunity to include your biggest achievements. Think about your target audience and think about how you could make THEIR life easier.

4. Extra material

You can add links and media to your profile in order to showcase your work, if it applies. Therefore, if you are in design, you might include some of your best work and create a visual portfolio. Otherwise, include relevant links or websites.

5. Recommendations are vital

You might be familiar with endorsements, but recommendations are of the essence as well. Reach out to former coworkers and managers and ask them to write you a recommendation for both your LinkedIn profile and in real life!

Keep these tips in mind and start making yourself more visible on this useful platform. If you have any additional tips, I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
